Service Car 269 (1920-1975)

269 Woluwe (07 01 12 - PhM)This motor car is equipped with a tower for easy access to overhead power lines. It was used to coat these wires with a layer of graphite to facilitate the movement of the trolley rollers through which trams got their power. These rollers were progressively replaced with a system of graphite brushes in the early 1950s. This greatly reduced the need for this particular tram.
